Did Alice Cooper Really Get His Name From a Ouija Board?

Claim- Vincent Damon Furnier aka Alice Cooper got his stage name from a Ouija board session that told him he was the reincarnation of a 17th century witch.

Verdict- False. According to Alice himself, "We literally got that whole story about the witch thing the way you guys got it. It was like just pure urban legend. I heard about the witch thing probably the same day you did, but it was a great story." The stage name, originally started as the band's name, was created out of thin air as it conjured the image of a "cute and sweet little girl with a hatchet behind her back." Furnier adopted it as his own in the early 1970s, and pays royalties to the band for its use.
